[French] Translation of "how are you doing?" in French

Hello again!

I have another question.
I know in French to say "how are you doing?" we say:

Comment ça va?

or

Comment va-tu?



Can we also say:

Comment es-tu?


For me, it seems that the verb "être" corresponds more to the question than the verb "aller".

Yes, you are right.
However, we can say

Comment es-tu?


but it more related to the appearance, the well-being or the health. In this last case, we rather say

Comment te sens-tu ?


Why do we use the verb "aller" rather than the verb "être"? It's a good question. I have never thought about that actually. I suppose that we use the verb "aller" because the question is not related to the state but it's more general and we talk about the progress of all things. I mean, when we say

ça va?

or

comment tu vas?


I suppose that we mean

comment vont les choses pour toi?
